Who we are

Going To Bat was originally concieved by three talented high school athletes and teammates Adam SalcidoKyle Candalla and Kieran Lovegrove. They witnessed first hand the tragedy of children falling through the cracks because their parents or as often was the case, single parent, did not have the means to pay for their children to play sport and reach their true potential as athletes. Scott Yonkouski encouraged the trio to focus the scope of the project on the youth in the impoversihed inner cities of our country. The natural progression was to provide alternatives, in addition to sports coaching, that would ensure the safety and life preparation for these at risk children.

What we do

We offer hope through a safe after-school environment, providing valuable life skills and athletic coaching while avoiding the despair of teenage pregnancy, bullying, violence, street gangs and drugs. We have teamed with the business and professional athletic communities to provide after school programs in underserved communities.

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM is important because it pervades every part of our lives - by 2018, 8 million jobs will be available in these fields. Providing students, especially minority and female students, with access to quality education in the STEM disciplines is important to our nation's competitiveness

With access to ledendary coaches and mentors, we provide coaching, not just in boy's sports like baseball, but also girls volleyball and softball. Sports participation is linked to academic effort.
